Classic

Can a toy that was originally designed in 1957 still hold the interest of today’s children?  When they are surrounded by the latest electronic gadgets, are simple ones still relevant?  You bet!  The Fisher Price Corn Popper has been a favorite for over fifty years, and with its delightful sights and sounds, it’ll likely be entertaining kids in another fifty years.  Sometimes parents buy their children products that allow them to reminisce about their own childhood, but their children are bored silly. These become decorating accessories, not playthings. This is definitely not the case with this busy bopping push toy.  Your child will get a lot of use and fun from it.  Completely kid-powered, no batteries required!

It’s easy to know how the Corn Popper got its name.  As your child pushes the long blue handle, the bright multi-colored balls jump around and sound just like popcorn popping.  It’s vey similar to a toy vacuum in design.  A round plastic dome sits at the bottom of the handle.  Inside are red, yellow, green, purple, and blue balls which hit against the plastic.  Two bright red wheels let the fun roll!  So besides making a peppy poppy sound, what does this classic do for your child?  It is impossible to overstate how important active playtime is for little ones.  Not only does it make for happy children, it makes for smart, strong ones as well.  As your energetic little bundle plays around with the popping pusher, he’s getting an early introduction to color and strengthening his visual acuity.  He’s sharpening his auditory skills.  He knows that when he pushes, the colorful balls bounce and make great sounds – that is early cause and effect thinking.  These skills are essential to later learning, and they’re best learned during playtime.  He will also have plenty of opportunity here to get up and get moving!  Making interesting sounds and seeing bright colors is a great incentive to walk and run! Great for indoor or outdoor play.

Toddler toys should be versatile and durable, both of which this Fisher Price has in abundance.  Appropriate for children age one to five, it is great for pre-walkers to veteran runners.  Whether they sit and enjoy the sights and sounds or run around pushing and pulling all over the house, they’ll have a blast.  This playroom favorite will last for years, easily lasting through the years of toddlerhood and still looking and working well enough to pass on to future generations.  In fact, if you found your Corn Popper from a few decades ago, you could dust it off and be ready to go!  How many products can say the same?  It is a remarkable testament to their sturdy design and high quality materials.  Also remarkable is the fact that your child will have just as much fun, despite his access to sophisticated technology and computers and video games.  He’ll still love good old-fashioned fun.  Fifty-two years old and still going strong!
